Yukari & Toshi: Traditional Japanese Wedding in Nezu, Japan

Ready for the good stuff? Here at Asian Inspired Weddings, we like to show you the whole spectrum of beautiful weddings that incorporate Asian ideas.  Today, we're excited to show you a true traditional Japanese wedding complete with every authentic Japanese element.  These spectacular wedding photos are captured by the multi-talented Chung Li from the San Francisco Bay Area who was so lucky to travel to Japan for the wedding of his good friends Toshi and Yukari.

These Japanese traditions, clothing, and settings are so enchanting, it truly feels like a movie.  To see the full slideshow, click here. Enjoy!

Traditional Japanese Wedding

Traditional Japanese wedding ceremonies are Shinto-style and are held at shrines. The bride, Yukari, wears traditional wedding kimono called shiro-maku, "shiro" meaning white and "maku" meaning pure. Her hair is ornately styled in a "bunkin-takashimada." Toshi wears a montsuki which represents the family crest. The ceremony is conducted by a Shinto priest where the couple share purification rituals and vows and perform the ancient wedding custom of sharing sake called "san san kudo."

From the Photographer Chung Li:

I cannot say in words how much I love Toshi and Yukari's wedding. It is a total authentic and traditional wedding in a Shrine in Japan , Nezu. I felt like I was in a movie. All the details, the atmosphere , the shrine, the reception, the dress were all incredibly elegant and beautiful. It is certainly one of my BEST wedding experience.

Toshi has been always been a great friend of mine since we met in MBA school 7 years ago in California. I always look up to him and lot of things to learn from him in terms of how to be a great guy. About 2 years ago he went back to Japan to work and met this beautiful girl Yukari and got married in Nezu where they live now.

Brother!! Congratulations again!!!
